Why the Turing papers are important

I had a very interesting chat today with Julian Wilson, book and manuscript specialist at Christies. He explained to me why the Turing papers are so important, how extremely rare they are, their connection with the leading thinking in mathematics and computer science and why “On computable numbers with an application to the Entscheidungsproblem” is a scholarly paper of utmost international importance for the history of the science of computing. I recorded two Audioboo’s during our conversation:

On computable numbers

please have a listen, you will not be disappointed 🙂

PS If you would like to know more about the acquisition of the papers for Bletchley Park please read  Turing papers saved for Bletchley Park
